How to create a "Collab Post" on Instagram
A quick guide for fitness professionals and personal trainers on using Instagram collab posts to showcase co-led workouts, client spotlights, and brand partnerships.
An Instagram collab post is a shared post published jointly by two or more fitness accounts. When one account creates a post and tags another as a collaborator, the post appears on both profiles—perfect for co-hosted workouts, trainer-client features, or gym and brand partnerships.
Collab posts are one of the easiest ways to grow your reach, increase credibility, and build stronger community ties. Use them to highlight client transformations, promote joint events, or showcase brand collaborations that align with your fitness business.
Here’s how to create one:
1️⃣ Start a Post
- Tap the “+” icon at the bottom of your screen to create a new post.
- Choose your photo or video (workout demo, transformation, or promo).
- Tap “Next.”
2️⃣ Edit Your Post
- Apply filters or edits as needed.
- Write a caption that explains the collaboration and includes a clear call to action (CTA).
3️⃣ Tag a Collaborator
- On the caption screen, tap “Tag People.”
- Select “Invite Collaborator” and search for the trainer, gym, or brand account you’re teaming up with.
- Tap their name to tag them as a collaborator.
4️⃣ Share the Post
- Tap “Share” to publish your collab post.
- Your collaborator will receive an invite—once they accept, the post will appear on both profiles, combining both audiences for maximum visibility.
💡 Pro Tip: Collaborations work best when both accounts actively engage with comments and share the post to their Stories for extra reach.
