Collaborative posts, or Collab Posts, are a powerful way for personal trainers to grow their reach on Instagram. By partnering with another account, your post is shared with both audiences, increasing visibility, engagement, and credibility.

Here’s a step-by-step guide to creating your first Collab Post.

1. Plan Your Collaboration

Before you post, decide who you want to collaborate with.

  • Partner with another trainer, fitness influencer, or wellness brand
  • Make sure your content aligns with their audience
  • Agree on the type of content (workout video, tips, transformation story, etc.)

Tip: Choose collaborators whose followers would naturally be interested in your training content.

2. Create Your Post

  • Open Instagram and start a new post
  • Upload your image or video
  • Add your caption, hashtags, and location

Make sure the content is professional, engaging, and consistent with your personal brand.

3. Invite Your Collaborator

  • On the Tag People screen, tap Invite Collaborator
  • Search for your collaborator’s Instagram account
  • Send the invite — your collaborator will need to accept for the Collab Post to appear on both profiles

Tip: Communicate with your collaborator ahead of time so they know to accept the invite promptly.

4. Post and Engage

  • Once the invite is accepted, post as usual
  • Both audiences can now see the post, like, and comment
  • Engage with comments from both follower groups to maximize visibility

Pro Tip: Ask your collaborator to share the post in their Stories for extra reach.

5. Track Your Performance

  • Use Instagram insights to monitor reach, saves, shares, and engagement
  • Collab Posts typically perform better than standard posts because they leverage two audiences instead of one

Bottom Line

Collab Posts are an effective way to grow your following, build credibility, and reach new clients as a personal trainer. By choosing the right partner, creating engaging content, and tracking performance, you can turn collaborations into a consistent growth strategy.
