Canva templates are designed to be easy to customize, even if you’ve never edited a design before. Social Trainer templates are built so you can quickly swap text, colors, and backgrounds while keeping everything clean and professional. This guide walks you through the basics.

Step 1: Open the Social Trainer Template

Start by opening the Social Trainer template link provided to you.
Click “Use template” and the design will open inside your Canva account.

Once it opens, you’ll see the design in the center and editing tools around it.

Step 2: Change the Text

To edit any text:

  1. Click directly on the text you want to change.
  2. Type your own words.
  3. Use the top toolbar to adjust:
    • Font style
    • Font size
    • Text color
    • Alignment

Tip: Try to keep the same text size and spacing unless you really need to change it. The template is already balanced for you.

Step 3: Change the Background Color

To change a background color:

  1. Click on an empty area of the background.
  2. Click the color circle in the top toolbar.
  3. Choose a new color or enter a custom color code.

If the background is an image:

  1. Click the image.
  2. Use Edit photo to adjust brightness, contrast, or apply a filter.
  3. You can also delete the image and replace it with another photo if needed.

Step 4: Replace Images or Videos

To swap an image or video:

  1. Click the image or video you want to replace.
  2. Drag a new photo or video from Uploads or Photos on the left panel.
  3. Drop it directly on top — Canva will automatically replace it.

This keeps the layout intact while updating the content.

Step 5: Adjust Colors to Match Your Brand

To update colors throughout the design:

  • Click on individual elements (text, shapes, icons)
  • Change their colors using the color picker in the toolbar

If you’re using multiple Social Trainer templates, try to reuse the same colors for a consistent look.

Step 6: Resize or Duplicate Pages (Optional)

If the template includes multiple pages:

  • Click Duplicate page to create variations
  • Edit each page slightly for different posts or messages

This is great for creating a week of Social Trainer content at once.

Step 7: Save and Download

Canva saves your work automatically.
When you’re finished:

  1. Click Share or Download
  2. Choose the format (PNG or MP4 are common for social content)
  3. Save it to your device or post directly
