How the Reel Editor works

Your first Reel walks you through a template step by step. This is the map.

Two modes

The toggle at the top switches between two views of the same reel. Flip back and forth any time.

• Basic — fill in the template: your words, your clips, your style. The timing and music

stay as the template has them.

• Advanced — the full timeline. Move, trim and re-time anything, and add your own text,

music and more.

Basic mode

The panel on the right walks you through the reel:

• Your words — every line of text. Type over it.
• Your clips — click a clip and choose Replace, or Add your clips to fill the reel

in order. Choose part picks which bit of a long clip plays.

• Your style — font styles for the whole reel, and your Brand Kit.

Press play on the preview to watch the whole thing.

Advanced mode

• Tool rail (left) — add Text, Media, a Shape, Elements, Widgets,

Audio, a Montage or Captions.

• Preview (middle) — click anything in it to select it.
• Timeline (bottom) — every clip, line of text and song, laid out in time. See

• Tabs (right) — Layers shows the settings for whatever you've selected; then

Style, Media, Caption and Settings.

The Media tab

Fill puts your best-matching clips from My Media into every spot still showing the template's footage. Shuffle tries a different mix. See How Autofill chooses media.

Saving and exporting

Hit Save — or Ctrl/⌘ S — as you go. Undo is Ctrl/⌘ Z; redo is Ctrl/⌘ Shift Z or Ctrl Y. Space plays and pauses.

Export makes the video on our servers, usually in a couple of minutes, and a QR code puts it on your phone. See Exporting.
